Speaking on the Xbox Era podcast, Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that “Roller Champions is gonna be cancelled after Season 3,” reading a message from a source.
Announced in 2019 and launched in May 2022, Roller Champions is a free-to-play online sports game developed by Ubisoft Montreal.
The game has received several seasons of content following its launch, and according to Ubisoft’s recent financial call, is tracking better than Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s now-cancelled battle royale.
However, this reportedly hasn’t translated into much popularity. At the time of writing, less than 100 people were watching the game on Twitch.
Developed by Ubisoft Montréal, Hyper Scape was a free-to-play, 100-player battle royale FPS set in a futuristic urban environment called Neo-Arcadia.
The game launched in open beta form in July 2020. However, just a year after its release Ubisoft had stopped releasing major updates for the game.
During an earnings call on Thursday, Ubisoft confirmed it had cancelled Ghost Recon Frontline, Splinter Cell VR and two unannounced games.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was also delayed. Previously set to be released in calendar 2022, it will now arrive during the company’s fiscal year beginning in April 2023.
